Short Story – Level 1 – Easy

The Bakery Poem

Two buns and one tart, so sweet and round,
Cost ten pounds flat – a price quite sound.
Then one bun more, two tarts instead,
Made eleven pounds total, it must be said.

The baker grinned, the puzzle set,
“Work it out, my dear, I’ll bet,
You’ll find the price of bun and tart,
For maths, like baking, is an art.”

And when the sums at last were done,
The tart was two, the bun was one.
